Starlog is made by SimplAI LLC ("we"). This policy explains what Starlog keeps, what leaves your phone, and the choices you have. In short: your small wins stay on your phone. Starlog has no account and no Starlog server.
What stays on your phone
Everything you record in Starlog is stored only on your device:
- the small wins you save (their text, time and time zone, and how they are sorted into activities and categories),
- drafts you have not saved yet,
- your daily recaps and the sentences you write for them,
- your settings (haptics, reduce motion, analytics choice).
We cannot see this data and we do not back it up. If you delete Starlog or lose your phone, it is gone. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include it, under that service's terms.
Clear all my data (Me → Clear my data → Clear all my data) removes your small wins, drafts and recaps from Starlog at once. Your settings stay. Images you already saved to Photos or shared stay where you put them.
When you use your voice
Speaking a small win uses the speech recognition built into your phone. Starlog does not record or keep any audio; it only receives the text, which you can edit before saving.
- iPhone: speech is recognized by Apple. Apple may process the audio on its servers to turn it into text. See Apple's privacy policy.
- Android: speech is recognized by your phone's speech service, usually from Google. Depending on your phone and its settings, the audio may be sent to Google to be turned into text. See Google's privacy policy.
You can always type instead. Starlog asks for the microphone (and, on iPhone, speech recognition) only when you tap Speak.
Analytics
To understand how Starlog is used and where it breaks, we use Google Analytics for Firebase. It receives a small set of events, for example "a small win was saved", "a recap was saved to Photos" or "the share sheet was opened", with technical details such as how long saving took, which kind of input was used, the category of a record, and error codes.
Analytics never receives the text of your small wins, your recap sentences, your recordings or your recap images. Starlog does not use your phone's advertising identifier and does not show ads.
Firebase also collects standard information on its own, such as an app-instance identifier, your phone model and system version, the app version, your approximate country, and when and how long the app is used. Google processes this data on our behalf; see How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Your choice:
- In the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — and whenever Starlog cannot tell where you are — analytics stays off until you agree.
- Elsewhere, analytics is on until you turn it off.
- You can change this at any time in Me → Analytics.
Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted.
Photos and sharing
- Save image adds your recap image to your photo library. On iPhone Starlog asks only to add photos; it cannot see your library.
- Share opens your phone's share sheet. You choose where the image goes; Starlog does not know whether or where it was sent.
Children
Starlog is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Because your records never leave your phone, you control them directly: view, edit, delete one, or clear everything in the app. For analytics data, you can turn analytics off at any time; to ask about or delete analytics data linked to your device, contact us at support@simplaiapp.com.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or in California), you may have further rights, such as access, deletion or objection. Contact us and we will help.
Changes
If we change how Starlog handles your data — for example if we add accounts or a Starlog server — we will update this policy and tell you in the app before the change applies.
